Μπορεί το «Game of Thrones» να διεκδικεί την τρίτη σερί νίκη του, το «Atlanta του ταλαντούχου Ντόναλντ Γκλόβερ να διαφαίνεται ως φαβορί στις κατηγορίες κωμωδίας και το «Handmaid's Tale» να απειλεί στις Δραματικές σειρές, η είδηση όμως είναι άλλη.

Μετά από 17 χρόνια κυριαρχίας του ΗΒΟ στις υποψηφιότητες ττων Βραβείων Emmys της Αμερικανικής Ακαδημίας Τηλεόρασης, το Netflix έριξε από το βάθρο τον συνδρομητικό, τηλεοπτικό κολοσσό μετά από μόλις πέντε χρόνια έναρξης της διαδικτυακής πλατφόρμας. Ασφαλώς και τα νούμερα σχετίζονται με την πληθώρα παραγωγής τηλεοπτικών προγραμμάτων στα οποία επιδίδεται μαζικά το Netflix, αλλά τα νούμερα παραμένουν υπολογίσιμο στατιστικό, οπότε για φέτος Netflix - HBO σημειώσατε 1. Συγκεκριμένα Το Netflix συγκέντρωσε τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες για 112 Emmys, και το ΗΒΟ ήρθε στη δεύτερη θέση με 108. Συγκριτικά πέρσι τα νούμερα ήταν 91 και 111, αντίστοιχα, ενώ το ΗΒΟ κρατά το ρεκόρ υποψηφιοτήτων (126) που σημείωσε το 2015.

Το «Game of Thrones» εξαπέλυσε τις φλόγες του στις κατηγορίες Καλύτερης Σειράς (Δράμα), Σκηνοθεσίας (διπλή υποψηφιότητα) και ερμηνειών για τους Λένα Χίντεϊ, Πίτερ Ντίνκλατζ και Νίκολαι Κόστερ-Βάνταου, αλλά έχει δυνατούς αντιπάλους τόσο στο «Handmaid's Tale», όσο και στα «The Americans», «The Crown», «Stranger Things», «This Is Us» και «Westworld», που συμπληρώνουν την κατηγορία Καλύτερης Σειράς. Αξίζει να θυμίσουμε πως τις δυο χρονίες 2015 και 2016, το «Game of Thrones» είχε κερδίσει από 12 βραβεία.

Η σπουδαία επιστροφή του Ντέιβιντ Λιντς στο «Twin Peaks» δεν συγκίνησε τόσο τα μέλη της Ακαδημίας, η οποία σε ένα σύνολο 9 υποψηφιοτήτων τον πρότεινε στις κατηγορίες Σκηνοθεσίας και Σεναρίου αλλά όχι στην Καλύτερη Σειρά, αφήνοντας επίσης εκτός τους ηθοποιούς Κάιλ ΜακΛάχλαν και Λόρα Ντερν, ενώ το «Mindhunter» του Ντέιβιντ Φίντσερ προτάθηκε για ένα μόνο βραβείο, guest ηθοποιού στον Κάμερον Μπρίτον.

Η Σάντρα Ο του «Killing Eve» έγινε η πρώτη γυναίκα ασιατικής καταγωγής που απέσπασε υποψηφιότητα (Α' Γυναικείου σε τηλεοπτική σειρά - Δράμα), το «The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel» συνέχισε την επιτυχημένη του πορεία μετά τη νίκη του στις Χρυσές Σφαίρε με υποψηφιότητες σε εφτά κατηγορίες και το πάλαι ποτέ αγαπημένο «Homeland» συγκέντρωσε μόλις τρεις υποψηφιότητες.

Η Τελετή Απονομής των 70ών Emmys θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Λος Άντζελες στις 17 Σεπτεμβρίου.
